Y Combinator-backed startup Further AI has raised $5 million in a seed round to build AI-native assistants for the insurance industry, according to the company on Thursday.
The seed round was led by Nexus Venture Partners with participation from Y Combinator, Pioneer AI Fund, South Park Commons, ConvergeVC, and Xceedance.
Further AI believes that the insurance industry is currently using outdated tools, with teams being asked to underwrite more, audit faster, and manage increased claims volume — all while ensuring compliance with ever changing regulations.

Meanwhile, 90% of global insurable risk remains uninsured, not because it’s uninsurable, but because the processes to access it are too slow, too manual, and too expensive to scale.
Further AI, which has been founded by Aman Gour and Sashank Gondala, aims to solve this problem by automating high-friction workflows like submission intake, policy comparison, and underwriting audits, helping underwriters, brokers, and auditors move faster, reduce errors, and scale operations.
“When we first started Further AI, we literally went around San Francisco with a box of donuts, knocking on the doors of insurance agents to better understand their day-to-day challenges. Those conversations made it crystal clear just how much time insurance professionals spent buried in repetitive tasks. We knew AI could change this completely — freeing professionals to focus on decisions that truly matter. Raising this funding is an important step toward turning that vision into reality,” wrote Gondala, taking to LinkedIn to share his thoughts on the funding milestone.

FurtherAI describes their platform as “ChatGPT for insurance that automates complex workflows, such as submissions processing, policy comparison, underwriting audits, and more.”
According to FurtherAI, their AI-native tool has helped a leading MGA double underwriter productivity by streamlining submission intake, enabled a risk exchange to audit twice as many policies with a 20% reduction in review time, and helped a regional insurer accelerate policy comparisons by 95%, significantly improving speed and accuracy.
The team behind Further AI brings in experience and expertise from top tech and insurance companies, including Microsoft, Apple, At-Bay, Travelers, and Hartford. While Gour has previously co-founded TurboHire, an AI-powered hiring platform, and worked as product manager in Microsoft, Gondala was previously a language modelling scientist for Apple.
