Tesla is all set to inaugurate its second outlet in India, after making its debut in Mumbai last month. The dealership in Delhi would be opened at Aerocity’s Worldmark 3 complex, catering to customers in the Delhi NCR region. The EV maker currently has two dealerships in India, and customers can also book a Model Y through its website.
The Model Y is the only Tesla model currently available in India. The electric crossover is priced at Rs. 6000,000 (around $68,000) onwards, and is available with rear-wheel-drive only but in two variants, standard and long range. The former offers a range of 500 kilometers (km) on a full charge, and the long-range version offers a range of 622 km on a full charge. The standard version of Tesla Model Y makes 235 bhp, and the long-range version makes more power at 335bhp.

Acceleration times are also different, as the former accelerates from 0–100kmph in 5.9 seconds, while the Tesla Model Y long range accelerates from 0–100kmph in 5.6 seconds. Charging can be done at home with a wall-mounted charger, or with a quick charger, which offers 267 km in 15 minutes. Tesla has already set up four quick chargers in Mumbai, and four more will be set up in Delhi after the inauguration of the new showroom.
Tesla faces competition in the EV market from homegrown automakers like Tata Motors and Mahindra, with the Harrier EV and Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e. Other competitors include BYD and Vinfast.
Tesla is also offering its Fully Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities in India, with Model Y. While FSD isn’t fully enabled because of India’s regulatory framework, the vehicle includes Autopilot features like Autopark, Smart Summon, Traffic Light & Stop Sign Control—with future updates planned via OTA software upgrades. These features are available at a price of Rs. 600,000 (around $6,800) on top of the vehicle’s price.

Tesla had inaugurated its Mumbai dealership in July, with the Model Y and Model 3 on display at its first showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). The company shared Model Y’s on-road price in Mumbai starts at around $75,000. The rear-wheel drive version comes in at $70,000, while the long-range rear-wheel drive is priced at around $79,000. With this price range, the electric car giant is set to be in direct competition with BMW iX1, Mercedes-Benz EQB, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and even the Kia EV6.
Tesla is planning to open a showroom in Bengaluru next. “The other new market, new states… We cannot miss Bangalore very soon,” Tesla Regional Director South East Asia Isabel Fan told PTI at the Aerocity opening. Fan added, “We don’t commit to five-year plans that we cannot deliver. So whatever we share is a commitment in the upcoming (period).”
