Rajat Singhania is a seasoned entrepreneur who founded HyLyt after a personal data-loss episode that spotlighted the gaps in how organized information is managed in business. With more than three decades of entrepreneurial experience, Singhania is working to reshape the way people handle digital information, bringing together scattered notes, messages, files, and media from multiple apps into one secure and integrated platform — yunify.ai.
Singhania’s accolades include being featured in Greatest Business Minds of the Decade by Firdouz Hameed, receiving the NASSCOM SME Inspire Award in 2023, being named by The Times of India among the Top Influential Business Leaders of 2024. yunify.ai is preparing for its upcoming launch, promising to simplify how users manage their digital lives. The platform consolidates notes, files, tasks, and conversations in one organized space so nothing gets overlooked and productivity comes naturally. In an exclusive interview with The American Bazaar, Singhania shares his vision about his new AI model.
The American Bazaar: Tell us about your entrepreneurial journey.
Rajat Singhania: I’m originally from New Delhi, India, and currently based out of Baroda, Gujarat. I did my schooling at St. Columba’s, New Delhi, and graduated from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi. After completing my education, I moved to Gujarat about 33 years ago, and I have spent almost my entire work life there.
I’m a first-generation entrepreneur. I’ve been in business for over 35 years and have set up six new businesses, sold two, closed one, and currently own three. The oldest is a 29-year-old cement distribution business, where we started from zero and became number three in the region, a position we’ve maintained for over 10 years. Then we have a 25-year-old IT services company working with U.S. clients. The newest venture is HyLyt, soon to relaunch the evolved version as yunify.ai — our foray into the tech startup world.
What led to the creation of HyLyt 3.0 (yunify.ai)?
Until now, we have not had AI in the product. With 3.0, we’re upgrading the product by adding significant security features, a modern interface, and a powerful AI layer. The goal is to make it globally competitive, especially in markets like the U.S., Singapore, and the UAE.
How has the product evolved from HyLyt to yunify.ai?
HyLyt 1.0 started as a B2C product focused on communication and information management. While HyLyt 2.0 pivoted to B2B, emphasizing security, a key business need. Now, yunify.ai adds a useful and needed AI layer and enhanced security features.
What’s the current funding status?
We’ve been bootstrapped so far, with a small friends and family round. We’re now raising $1.5 million as our first seed round and have commitments worth about $500,000. Once we close the round, we’ll move forward faster.
How will you utilize the raised capital?
About 25-30% will go toward product enhancement and improvement. Around 5-10% will be used for intellectual property. We already have two granted U.S. patents and two in India, with Singapore’s patent pending. The remaining 60% will go into customer acquisition and market penetration, starting with the U.S., then Singapore, and the UAE.
What are your key milestones with yunify.ai?
Our mission is simple — to make yunify.ai the default for information management. Just as WhatsApp defines communication and Zoom defines meetings, yunify.ai will define how people manage information.
Today, information is scattered — across emails, devices, and platforms. We’re bringing it all together in one place. When people think “information,” they’ll think yunify.ai.
Our journey unfolds in three parts:
1. yuniTALK — A secure, all-in-one suite for business communication and collaboration.
2. yuniVAULT— Institution memory redefined. Everything done through a corporate account, on any device or cloud, is instantly retrievable by the admin.
3. yunify.ai – AI Intelligence Layer for smart categorization, tagging, and management powered by AI.
Each product stands strong on its own. Together, they create a unified, intelligent workspace for the modern enterprise.
What AI technologies will power yunify.ai?
Initially, we’ll use existing pre-trained LLM modules to control costs. Once we validate customer needs, we’ll develop our own AI modules in the next round of funding, where we plan to raise $8–10 million.
Will there be a free version of yunify.ai?
We won’t have a free-for-all version, but there will be a 15–30-day free trial for individual users. Organizations can contact us for custom trials based on their size and needs.
How do you view the competition?
To do what yunify.ai does, one would need six different products —
- Note-taking (Evernote, OneNote)
- File management (Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive)
- Calendars (Outlook, Google Calendar)
- Reminders/to-do tools (Trello, Asana)
- Video conferencing (Zoom, Meet)
- Collaboration (Slack, Teams, WhatsApp)
yunify.ai combines all these functionalities into a single integrated “super app.” While products like Notion or ClickUp do parts of it, none achieve 100%. That’s where our patented technology gives us a unique edge.
What features are covered under your patents?
Our patents cover many things, the four key pillars are:
- Simplified saving – Easy saving of information from any platform with just one to three clicks, reducing human effort by over 50%.
- Meta-tag connectivity – Ability to inter-connect information across folders through meta tags, making data interconnected and more usable.
- Advanced filtering – Smart filters that make information retrieval simple and intuitive without complex commands.
- Leakage control – Senders can restrict recipients from resharing any information, ensuring “for your eyes only” control.
Where do you see yunify.ai in the next five years?
I expect it to become the WhatsApp of information management. Just as Zoom became the go-to for video calls, yunify.ai will become the go-to platform for managing and accessing information.
You mentioned focusing on the U.S. market first. Have you begun building partnerships there?
Yes, we already have ongoing conversations in multiple markets and a team spanning from the U.S. to Singapore. Advisors are based in the U.S. and Singapore in addition to India, and we’re in talks with partners in all three regions. I can’t disclose names yet, but we plan to share success stories once yunify.ai goes live in January.
