Indian performing artists based in the United Arab Emirates have come together for a cultural initiative aimed at promoting global harmony through music and dance with the launch of “Mission Global Peace – Maithreem Bhajata,” a modern recreation of the historic peace hymn first performed at the United Nations in 1966.
The original hymn, composed by Hindu spiritual leader Chandrasekarendra Saraswati and famously rendered at the UN by M. S. Subbulakshmi, carried a message of peace, compassion, and unity among nations.

The newly reimagined production brings together more than 30 UAE-based Indian classical dancers, musicians, and vocalists in a collaborative artistic expression designed to inspire coexistence and dialogue across cultures. The initiative reflects the UAE’s multicultural identity and its growing role as a global center for tolerance and international collaboration.
The project has been presented by Global Indian Performing Arts & Music Society in partnership with IPF UAE. The concept and direction were led by Iswarya Bharadwaj, while the music direction was handled by Renuka Parameswar. Production responsibilities were overseen by Varathraj Kumar through Ameeraga Valai Oli (AVO Studio), Dubai.
Featuring artists from a range of Indian classical disciplines, the performance blends traditional artistic forms with a contemporary message focused on peacebuilding and human connection. Organizers say the initiative seeks to use the universal language of art to encourage empathy and mutual respect at a time when divisions and conflicts continue to shape global discourse.

The production has already gained significant traction online, surpassing 15,000 views and more than 1,500 likes across digital platforms, while also being widely shared on social media.
With “Mission Global Peace – Maithreem Bhajata,” the artists hope to revive the spirit of one of India’s most iconic musical peace offerings and introduce its message to a new generation of global audiences.
