Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita Mukesh Ambani has been conferred the Humanitarian Award by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) at a ceremony held in Tampa, Florida, in recognition of her philanthropic work and contributions across healthcare, education, sports, culture and community development.
The award honors Ambani’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian service, recognizing initiatives that have focused on improving lives through compassion, inclusion and community empowerment.
Adding to the recognition, Tampa Mayor Jane Castor presented Ambani with the Key to the City of Tampa, one of the city’s highest civic honors. The symbolic distinction is reserved for individuals whose work has made a meaningful impact on society and reflects the city’s appreciation for their contributions.
Ambani was recognized for her leadership at the Reliance Foundation, which has led initiatives in healthcare, education, rural transformation, women’s empowerment, disaster response, sports development and the preservation of India’s arts and cultural heritage.

The recognition also reflects Ambani’s work beyond corporate philanthropy. An educationist, philanthropist, businesswoman and a strong advocate for the arts, sports, women and children’s empowerment, she has led several initiatives aimed at expanding access to opportunities for underserved communities.
As the Founder and Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, Ambani has overseen programs designed to improve the lives of millions across India through interventions in healthcare, education, livelihoods and social development.
In 2021, on International Women’s Day, she launched Her Circle, a digital platform created to build an inclusive community for women by providing access to support, resources and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Ambani has also achieved several global milestones. She became the first Indian woman to be elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee and the first Indian to serve as an Honorary Trustee on the Board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. In 2020, *Town & Country* magazine recognized her among the world’s leading philanthropists.
Accepting the award, Ambani dedicated the recognition to the team behind the Reliance Foundation’s humanitarian initiatives.
“Humanitarian work is never achieved by one person alone. Behind that person is a dedicated and sincere team,” she stated.
During her remarks, Ambani also praised the Indian American community for preserving India’s cultural heritage while making significant contributions to American society.
