Genomics specialist Alka Chaubey has been appointed as the first chief medical and genomics officer at Nabsys 2.0, LLC, taking over the newly created position on July 6.
The appointment puts the veteran Indian American scientist into the top medical tier of the company as it scales up its proprietary electronic genome mapping platform.
Chaubey, who previously served as the chief medical officer at Bionano Genomics, brings more than 20 years of experience in molecular genetics, cytogenomics, and molecular diagnostics.
At Nabsys, based in Providence, Rhode Island, she will direct the company’s medical and scientific affairs strategy, focusing on expanding the adoption of its OhmX electronic genome mapping system. The technology maps structural variations in human DNA, which are important for analyzing cancer, constitutional conditions, and cell and gene therapies.
