Billionaire Elon Musk is making a massive investment to help the Republican party in the midterm elections, according to an Axios report. The SpaceX CEO is planning to revive the America PAC, which spent more than $260 million to help get President Donald Trump elected in 2024.
The report mentioned that America PAC will focus on door-knocking, digital advertising and direct mail aimed at turning out the conservative base, including voters who typically are less inclined to cast ballots in a non-presidential election year. While Musk’s representatives did not elaborate on the amount he’d spent, it is expected to be high considering his donation in 2024.
“America PAC was an essential partner for our historic GOTV operation in 2024, and their return for 2026 is a huge boost for Republicans across the country,” James Blair, President Trump’s senior political adviser, told Axios. “We will again outsmart our opponents and ruthlessly execute our mission for the GOP between now and Election Day,” Blair added.

The report mentioned that Musk’s contribution would give the Republicans a huge edge in cash, over the Democrats. This comes as Trump is facing low ratings, particularly on the economy and the Iran war. GOP super PACs and committees have a $300 million-plus advantage over their Democratic counterparts, not including the $400 million sitting in Trump’s MAGA Inc. super PAC.
During the first year of Trump’s second term Musk was appointed a “special government employee” to oversee the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aiming to cut government spending. However, the billionaire eventually left the administration, and clashed with the president over the One Big Beautiful Bill. Musk had even floated the idea of a new political party as “an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty.”

However, Musk’s relationship with the president appears to have improved somewhat. By the end of 2025, he was back to contributing to the GOP. He also cut a $10 million check to Kentucky GOP Senate candidate Nate Morris, who eventually dropped out of the race to take a job in the Trump administration.
“The president’s political team and the rest of the GOP apparatus have built a top-notch operation that will put Republicans in a strong position to buck history and retain control of Congress this fall, and we’re excited to again be part of the team,” America PAC spokesperson Andrew Romeo told Axios.
