Manhattan University has named Dr. Grishma Shah as interim dean of the O’Malley School of Business, tapping a long-time faculty member and global business scholar to lead the school through a period of strategic academic growth.
Shah, who served as associate dean starting in 2025, stepped into the leadership role with nearly two decades of academic and administrative experience at the institution.
She joined Manhattan University in 2008 after completing her doctorate in global affairs and international business at Rutgers University. Alongside her role as a professor of management, she serves as director of global business studies, overseeing international partnerships and faculty-led study programs across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

In announcing her appointment, Manhattan University President Frederick Bonato appreciated Shah’s role in advancing strategic initiatives across undergraduate and graduate programs. The university plans to leverage her leadership to expand entrepreneurship and foster stronger ties with the broader New York City business sector.
Born in 1979 in Vadodara, India, Shah spent her early childhood in Gujarat before her family immigrated to the United States when she was seven. Her family retains ancestral roots in the village of Sankheda.
Shah completed her higher education at Rutgers University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a focus on international relations, alongside studies in economics and women’s studies. She went on to complete a Master of Public Affairs and Politics and a PhD in global affairs.

During her undergraduate years, she participated in South Asian student organizations and global service projects through Operation Smile.
Her academic research centers on economic globalization, cross-cultural management, gender equity, and emerging markets, with publications appearing in outlets such as the Harvard Business Review.
In 2024, she published her debut novel, “Anagram Destiny,” a fiction book exploring themes of globalization, cultural identity, and the immigrant experience.
As interim dean, Shah takes responsibility for academic programs at the O’Malley School of Business while maintaining a focus on experiential learning and real-world career preparation for students.
