Most Asian Indian voters in the United States prefer Democratic candidates over Republicans ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, according to findings from the 2026 Asian American Voter Survey.
The nationwide survey revealed that 66% of Asian Indian voters support Democratic contenders in U.S. Senate races.
Across the broader Asian American and Pacific Islander electorate, 60% of respondents preferred Democrats for the Senate compared to 24% who backed Republicans.
Support for Democrats remained similarly strong in U.S. House races, where 64% favored Democratic candidates over 22% for Republicans.
The survey Conducted periodically during election cycles since 2014, used national voter file data to examine political attitudes across AAPI communities and the 2026 study showcases 2,066 voters, comprising 1,896 Asian Americans and 170 Pacific Islanders.

The survey emphasized the growing impact of this voting group within the American political landscape, with roughly 16 million AAPI voters eligible in 2026, that total including about 1.6 million individuals who gained voting eligibility since 2022.
Economic issues emerged as the primary driver behind voter preferences while cost of living and inflation stood out as the top concern, with 90% of Asian American respondents classifying it as extremely important when deciding how to vote.
When asked which party would handle these economic pressures better, 44% leand towards Democrats, while 18% chose Republicans.
Healthcare ranked as another top priority, cited as very or extremely important by 82% of respondents. Other major issues influencing voters included jobs and unemployment at 80%, Social Security and Medicare at 80%, education at 79%, crime and public safety at 78%, and war and foreign policy at 78%. Voters also cited racism and hate crimes (73%), immigration (68%), and abortion and reproductive rights (61%).
Separate data from prediction market Polymarket indicated a 51% probability of Democrats winning both chambers of Congress in the 2026 midterms, reflecting shifting expectations as election season approaches.
