The planned Innovation Center will bring government agencies, technology partners and community organizations together as Salesforce expands its public-sector presence in the nation’s capital.
Salesforce plans to establish an innovation center in Washington, D.C., to strengthen its relationships with federal agencies, policymakers and public-sector customers as government organizations explore new technology and artificial intelligence applications.
The San Francisco-based enterprise software company announced the Salesforce Innovation Center D.C. on Oct. 29, saying the facility will serve as a hub for meetings, policy events, technology demonstrations and collaboration with government officials, business partners and community organizations.
Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2026, with an official opening planned for early 2028, according to the company’s announcement.

The center will be located at 1401 New York Avenue NW, near the White House and Metro Center. The property is owned and managed by Carr Properties, a real estate company specializing in office and residential properties.
Salesforce expands public-sector engagement
Salesforce said the new facility will support its work with federal, state and local government agencies as they modernize operations and public services.
The company identified all 15 Cabinet agencies, all 50 states, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Transportation among the public-sector organizations it supports. The center will host policy summits, technology briefings and collaborative sessions focused on solutions for government operations. It will also provide space for government leaders, employees, customers and partners to explore technology applications.
Wendy R. Anderson, Salesforce’s senior vice president of Government and Global Public Affairs, said the facility would provide a dedicated space for government and industry leaders to develop relationships, advance shared priorities and invest in the Washington community. The company also plans to provide conference and wellness amenities, along with an indoor-outdoor rooftop venue.
Investment comes amid government technology modernization
The Washington project is part of a broader effort to expand Salesforce’s public-sector and government affairs operations. The company recently strengthened its leadership team with appointments including Anderson, Geof Kahn as vice president of Federal Government Affairs and Public Policy, and Virginia Sharma as chief marketing officer of Missionforce.
Salesforce said the expanded leadership team would focus on supporting government agencies using Salesforce GovCloud and Missionforce as they modernize their services and operations. Missionforce is Salesforce’s government-focused business serving public-sector organizations. GovCloud provides cloud capabilities for customers with government-specific security and compliance requirements.

Kendall Collins, president and CEO of Missionforce and Government Cloud at Salesforce, said the new center would support public-sector modernization efforts intended to improve citizen services, streamline government operations and strengthen national security.
More than 2,000 employees in the region
Salesforce said it has maintained a significant presence in the Washington region for more than two decades, employing more than 2,000 people across the District of Columbia and neighboring Maryland and Virginia communities.
The new center will establish a more prominent presence in central Washington, while the company’s McLean, Virginia, office will continue to operate as a key regional hub. The company also highlighted its community engagement through its 1-1-1 philanthropic model, under which it contributes resources through employee volunteering, grants and technology support.
Salesforce said the company and its employees have contributed more than $76 million and 16,000 volunteer hours to communities across the Washington region. The center is expected to host community events, support nonprofit partnerships and provide opportunities for engagement between Salesforce employees and local organizations.
The project comes as government agencies consider how to incorporate emerging technologies into public services while addressing security, operational efficiency and changing service demands. Salesforce said the new facility would provide a dedicated setting for government leaders and technology partners to explore those applications.
