WASHINGTON, DC: The lovely Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who went to school at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, and grabbed fame for her roles on Pakistani shows and the film ‘Bol’, has been picked to act opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the Rahul Dholakia directed ‘Raees’.

The Karachi born Mahira Khan, who got married seven years ago to a Pakistani man she met in California, Ali Askari, has two children, a boy and a girl. Reports say she didn’t graduate from the program she was enrolled at college in California and returned back to Pakistan.
Mahira Khan’s selection for ‘Raees’, which is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, puts to rest rumors of the lead actress chosen for the high profile film, with the names of Sonam Kapoor and Kirti Sanon bandied about too in the past.
In ‘Raees’, Khan will keep up with his bad boy image from the ‘Don’ avatars, and play a Gujarati don. Nawazuddin Sidddiqui will play the role of a policeman out to get him.
Mahira Khan, who had in the past been reluctant to act in a Bollywood film, citing her interest to promote Pakistani shows and films, is yet another import from the across the border in the recent past, to Bollywood.
When she makes her debut in Bollywood, Mahira Khan she will join the ranks of stars like Humaima Malick (Raja Natwarlal), Fawad Khan (Khoobsurat) and Ali Zafar (Total Siyapaa), who have successfully made the crossover.
Mahira Khan made her film debut in 2011 with the Pakistani film ‘Bol’ directed by Shoaib Mansoor, where played the role of Ayesha, a feisty tomboy. She has worked in several TV serials, including ‘Neeyat’ (2011), ‘Humsafar’ (2012), ‘Shehr-e-Zaat’ (2012) and ‘Sadqay Tumhare’ (2014).
