Indian American Virginia State Senator Kannan Srinivasan has been elected Treasurer of the Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus, taking on a leadership role within the party’s governing body.
“I am honored to be elected Treasurer of the Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus,” Srinivasan posted on X stating he was “grateful for the trust of my colleagues” and looked forward to working with them to keep the caucus “strong, organized, and focused on delivering affordability, opportunity, and practical results for families across the Commonwealth.”
The Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus is composed of Democratic members of the state Senate and coordinates legislative priorities, internal strategy, and leadership elections.
The caucus elects its leadership team, including the treasurer, which helps manage internal operations and party organization within the chamber. Democrats currently hold a narrow majority in the 40-member Senate, making caucus coordination central to advancing legislation.
