Prototyping.io, an AI-driven manufacturing startup backed by Y Combinator, has paused hiring after its plans changed following a $6.2 million seed round, according to founder and CEO Revanth Bodepudi.
Bodepudi disclosed the development in a LinkedIn post, saying he raised the seed funding for Prototyping.io in June from a group of venture capital firms and angel investors.
The founder said that after the fundraising, he began building the startup’s team and met what he described as “incredibly talented people.” He later said the company had to pause hiring as its plans “quickly evolved.”
Bodepudi did not disclose in the post how many people had been hired before the pause, how many roles were affected or when hiring might resume and did not provide specific details about what changes prompted the company to alter its plans.

Prototyping.io is part of Y Combinator’s Spring 2026, or P26, batch. Y Combinator describes the San Francisco-based company as a developer of autonomous manufacturing systems for mechanical parts. Its platform is designed to take CAD designs through manufacturing workflows using an AI-driven approach.
The company’s Y Combinator profile lists Bodepudi as founder and CEO, the profile says Prototyping.io is focused on rebuilding the design-to-manufacturing process, with its system intended to automate steps involved in moving from design to production.
Bodepudi’s latest update did not provide additional information about the company’s financial position following the seed round or indicate that the funding itself had changed.
His post instead focused on the company’s team-building efforts and the decision to pause hiring as its plans developed.
The announcement comes after Prototyping.io joined Y Combinator’s P26 batch, the company’s co-founder Prerit Oberai previously said the startup was building an AI-native manufacturing platform for hardware teams, focused on turning designs into prototype-ready parts.

Bodepudi said the past few months had involved significant changes and thanked the people who had supported the company and backed its vision.
He ended his LinkedIn post by saying there was “more soon,” without providing details about the startup’s next steps or a timeline for further announcements.
