Conservative commentator Priya Patel has criticized Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar following a federal search of the congresswoman’s Washington, D.C., area residence, renewing allegations about Omar’s immigration history and questioning her suitability for public office.
In a post on X, Patel said the search was part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation and argued that Omar should be held accountable if investigators establish wrongdoing. Patel also repeated longstanding allegations concerning Omar’s marriage history and naturalization, but did not provide evidence in the post to substantiate those claims.

Federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations searched Omar’s residence on Oct. 12 under a court-authorized warrant, according to the Department of Justice. The department confirmed that the operation was connected to an ongoing federal criminal investigation but did not publicly disclose detailed findings. Reuters reported that the inquiry concerns allegations related to Omar’s childhood immigration paperwork. Omar has denied wrongdoing.
“Guys, Christmas came earlier this year,” Patel wrote, opening her post with a reference to the search. She subsequently argued that Omar’s own statement that no one is above the law should apply to the congresswoman if criminal conduct is established.
Patel also claimed that Omar could face denaturalization and deportation if immigration fraud were proven. However, such outcomes are not automatic consequences of an investigation or home search. Denaturalization and removal are subject to applicable legal requirements and judicial proceedings.
The commentator compared the investigation into Omar with the civil fraud case brought against President Donald Trump by New York Attorney General Letitia James. She also criticized what she described as politically motivated judicial intervention in the Trump administration’s enforcement policies.
Patel further accused Omar of expressing hostility toward the United States and alleged that she had been involved in defrauding the federal government. Those statements were presented as Patel’s political accusations, rather than established findings of criminal wrongdoing.

Omar, who represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, condemned the search in a statement on X, describing it as an attempt to target political opponents and weaponize federal law enforcement. She said she would not be silenced. Democratic leaders also questioned the timing of the search, which occurred weeks before the November midterm elections, according to the Associated Press.
The search has intensified political debate over the investigation, Omar’s immigration history and the use of federal law enforcement in politically sensitive cases. Authorities have not publicly announced criminal charges against Omar in connection with the search.
Patel’s post is available on X. The American Bazaar previously reported on the federal search in its October 12 article, “Ilhan Omar home search: Federal investigation”.
