MUMBAI: The cast and crew of ‘Rahasya’, directed by Manish Gupta, got together at actress Tisca Chopra’s Andheri residence to celebrate the film’s critical acclaim and theatrical run it’s enjoying.
Rahasya, which means mystery, was inspired by the infamous Aarushi murder case. The film revolves around the story of an 18-year-old girl, Ayesha Mahajan (Sakshi Sem), who is murdered in her own house. Her father Sachin Mahajan (played by Ashish Vidyarthi) is deemed the prime suspect for the murder. Chopra plays the role of the mother of the victim.
The hugely talented and versatile actor Kay Kay Menon plays the role of CBI Chief Sunil Paraskar who investigates the case. The film is a riveting story of a double murder, and the climax reveals the mother killed her own daughter.
Gupta was ecstatic at the film’s success, saying, “These days films don’t last inside theatres beyond a week or two. And ‘Rahasya’ has gone into its 6th week in theaters, that’s a great achievementâ€.
Menon said, “This proves that real acting can prevail over so-called star power.â€
Chopra said, “The film has sustained because of the audience’s appreciation. What better compliment can an actor get?â€
Viacom18 COO Ajit Andhare, who was also present, said: “It’s been a long and arduous journey due to all the issues we faced while releasing this film but we are glad that audiences and the film fraternity have unanimously liked the film. Manish’s tenacity had a large part to play in the film’s quality standardsâ€.
Also present at the party were some of the film’s supporting cast – Ashwini Kalsekar (with hubbie Murli Sharma), Mita Vashisht, Major Bikramjit and newcomers Sakshi Sem and Kunal Sharma.
