Venture capitalist Ullas Naik’s early seed investments in AppLovin and DoorDash now represent a combined market cap of over $170 billion—a rare feat in venture capital.
Last week, impact investor and partner at Menlo Ventures Venky Ganesan took to LinkedIn to celebrate Naik, noting AppLovin’s recent milestone of hitting a $100 billion market cap and commended Naik for his ability to identify game-changing companies at their inception.
In his post, Ganesan mentions that “Most people do not know about this company. Someone who did and caught it early, really early was my former partner Ullas Naik.”
Naik, who is an early stage investor in AppLovin and DoorDash, yielded exceptional returns from his investments.

One of Naik’s standout successes, AppLovin, has reshaped how businesses connect with their customers. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, the company offers software and AI-driven solutions that help businesses reach, monetize, and grow global audiences.

According to Barron’s, a Wall Street analyst wrote near the beginning of last year, “we are cautious on near-term business fundamentals and long-term competitive positioning,” when AppLovin’s shares were $11. He initiated coverage at “Sell” and predicted a fall to $7. Its innovative approach has not only captured market confidence but also propelled it to a $100 billion valuation.
AppLovin’s growth underscores the unpredictable nature of market success and the value of early, bold investments. Naik’s contributions as a seed investor demonstrate the profound impact of venture capitalists who recognize and nurture transformative ideas.
