The second annual RegulatingAI Policy Summit wrapped up on Aug. 12 at the MGM Grand, bringing together senior voices from government, business, and academia to grapple with the fast-evolving challenges of artificial intelligence regulation.
The two-day event provided a platform for direct engagement between policymakers and industry leaders, spotlighting the urgent intersection of technology and governance.

A key roundtable featured former Congressman Dan Donovan and RegulatingAI co-founder Sanjay Puri, who reflected on lessons from the Trump administration and the road ahead for AI policy. Congressman Rob Bresnahan delivered a keynote address on America’s technological future, urging a balanced approach that fosters innovation while protecting jobs, security, and fairness.

Founded by Knowledge Networks, RegulatingAI is a non-profit initiative dedicated to promoting ethical AI governance and equipping regulators, industry leaders, and advocacy groups with tools to build a future based on trust and transparency.
In an interview with The American Bazaar, Puri once noted that “while awareness [around AI] is rising, the depth of understanding varies,” adding that the initiative works to educate congressional staffers, addressing the AI knowledge gap “since expecting every lawmaker to become an AI expert is unrealistic.”
Running alongside the policy sessions was the Chief AI Officer (CAIO) Summit, which focused on organizational strategies for AI adoption. Dr. Ravi Pendse, Vice President and CIO at the University of Michigan, spoke on building “AI-ready” organizations, while Alexandre Guilbault, Head of AI at TELUS, emphasized the need for measurable returns on AI investments.
“This year’s summit reflected our core mission of fostering inclusive, solutions-driven dialogue in AI policy,” said Puri, who also noted the growing synergy between RegulatingAI and Ai4, one of the world’s largest AI for business conferences.
Other distinguished speakers included Nicholas Dirks, President and CEO of the New York Academy of Sciences, and Beth Linker, Chief Product Officer at Finite State. One of the most anticipated sessions was a conversation between Puri and Michael J. Weiss, Co-Founder of Ai4 and RETCON, who traced Ai4’s growth from a 2018 Brooklyn gathering of 300 attendees to its current global scale, drawing more than 8,000 participants from over 85 countries to Las Vegas.
By highlighting both policy frameworks and practical adoption strategies, the 2025 RegulatingAI Policy Summit underscored the urgent need for collaborative governance structures that ensure AI is developed responsibly.
