President Donald Trump may not be so certain about winning the Nobel Prize. The White House pegged him as “The Peace President” on Thursday, even as Donald Trump himself seemed sceptical about his prospects of winning the Nobel Peace Prize despite his claim of settling “seven” global conflicts.
Trump, who has repeatedly taken credit for brokering peace between India and Pakistan — despite New Delhi’s denial — has hinted that the Norwegian Nobel Committee “will find a reason” to not consider him for the global recognition that he believes should belong to him.
President Trump has been publicly nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by several notable figures in 2025. On March 4, U.S. Representative Darrell Issa formally announced his nomination of President Trump for the prize, citing his diplomatic efforts during his tenure.

Later, on July 7, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally handed Trump a letter at the White House, declaring that he had nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize. Both Issa and Netanyahu are eligible nominators under the Nobel Committee’s rules, which include national politicians and heads of state.
These public announcements confirm that Trump’s name has been officially submitted for consideration by qualified nominators in 2025. However, the Nobel Committee itself maintains strict confidentiality around nominations, not confirming or denying them for 50 years.
The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five original Nobel Prizes established by Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite. First awarded in 1901, it honors individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to peace, such as resolving conflicts, promoting disarmament, or advancing human rights.
The Peace Prize is unique among the Nobel awards in that it is presented in Oslo, Norway, rather than Stockholm, Sweden. Notable laureates include Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, Malala Yousafzai, and organizations like the International Red Cross and the United Nations.

Due to the Nobel Committee’s secrecy rules, it is not possible to independently verify whether the nominations will influence the final decision. Additionally, for a nomination to be considered for a specific year’s award, it must be submitted by February 1 of that year.
Since Netanyahu’s nomination occurred in July 2025, it is more likely to be considered for the 2026 prize rather than 2025.
The Republican leader has long wanted the Nobel Peace Prize, often questioning why his predecessor, former President Barack Obama, was given the award in his first year in office.
The Nobel Peace Prize continues to honor individuals or organizations making significant contributions to peace, but the final selection process and decisions remain confidential. Thus, while Trump’s nominations are publicly confirmed by credible sources, the outcome and official standing of these nominations will only be known in the distant future.
