Indian American entrepreneur and educationist Sunny Reddy has been inducted into the Wayne State University’s School of Engineering 2026 Hall of Fame recognizing alumni for their leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Founded in 1983, the James and Patricia Anderson College of Engineering Hall of Fame honors alumni who have made significant industrial, educational and societal contributions to the engineering and computer science professions.
Reddy, Founder & CEO of VoIP Office, a Michigan-based technology company with global operations, was described as a dedicated leader with a strong commitment to advancing education and fostering community resilience.
Addressing attendees at the college’s ‘Night of the Stars’ event on April 27 in Detroit, Reddy framed the recognition as part of a longer journey rather than a single achievement.
“Recognition is not just about achievement. It’s about a journey. The journey began right here at Wayne State University,” he said recalling his arrival in Detroit as a student with limited resources.
“I arrived with a very little. A suitcase, a dream, and hopes of my parents,” he said, describing the challenges of adapting to a new country and system.

Speaking about his parents’ influence, Reddy said, “My mother believed in me. She had a dream that I would come to America and build something meaningful.” His father’s support too was as steady and lasting, he said. “Even when things were uncertain, he believed.”
Elected to the Wayne State University Board of Governors in 2024, Reddy is passionate about ensuring the university provides accessible, affordable and unbiased education while cultivating excellence in all aspects of student life.
A successful entrepreneur and philanthropist, Reddy has made a significant impact through his leadership in disaster relief initiatives.
He worked closely with the American Red Cross to raise critical funds for relief efforts during major disasters, including Hurricane Harvey in Houston in 2017, the 2021 Kentucky tornadoes and the 2024 Florida hurricanes. These efforts underscore his unwavering commitment to supporting communities in times of need.
As a Board of Trustees member for the American Telugu Association, Reddy has led initiatives benefiting diverse communities, further highlighting his dedication to public service.
He is also a staunch advocate for fostering alumni engagement at Wayne State, recognizing the value of mentorship and career guidance for current students. By building bridges and forming partnerships, he seeks to elevate Wayne State’s stature as a leader in higher education.
Reddy remains an active member of his community, championing innovation, inclusion and excellence. He holds a master’s in chemical engineering from Wayne State.
