Amazon is in talks to acquire AI startup Decart in a deal that could be worth approximately $7 billion, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The deal could be finalized soon, provided negotiations do not collapse or another buyer does not emerge, the Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Decart has developed software that allows developers to switch between different AI chips, a capability that is becoming increasingly valuable as demand for computing power intensifies. The company is also developing world models called Lucy and Oasis, which can generate and simulate real-world 3D environments, according to the report.

Decart was founded in 2023 by Israeli engineers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf, who are brothers, and Moshe Shalev. Its investors include Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Radical Ventures. The startup has raised more than $400 million in venture funding and was valued at nearly $4 billion in May, according to the WSJ.
AI company Anthropic was previously in talks to acquire Decart for about $6 billion. The potential deal would have strengthened Anthropic’s computing infrastructure as it faced growing demand for its products and invested heavily in computing capacity. However, Anthropic reportedly abandoned the acquisition after conducting due diligence. The development comes as Anthropic prepares for a potential initial public offering.

In May, Decart announced that it had raised $300 million in a funding round led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia Corp., Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners and Adobe Ventures participating. Existing investors Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Zeev Ventures also took part. The funding round valued the startup at nearly $4 billion, up from $3.1 billion in August 2025, according to the WSJ.
Amazon’s recent acquisitions include its $6.5 billion purchase of MGM in 2022 and a deal worth roughly $11 billion for Globalstar announced earlier this year, according to the Journal. Earlier this month, Israeli news outlet Calcalist reported that Decart was in advanced negotiations to be acquired by a major technology company.
Amazon has also developed its own AI chip, Trainium3. Amazon Web Services gave Decart early access to the chip in 2025 after meetings with the startup’s team impressed Amazon executives, the WSJ reported.
