Sam Altman’s AI startup OpenAI has launched GPT-5. The AI frontrunner claims it’s the best model ever. The company said this model aims to remove the hassle of picking between different models, a difficulty many users faced.
According to Altman, the newest model is built to make the platform easier, faster, more accurate, and far more user-friendly. He was so impressed with its performance that, after trying ChatGPT-5, he admitted he’d never consider going back to ChatGPT-4.
OpenAI has confirmed that GPT-5 is already rolling out to ChatGPT users, with Enterprise and Edu accounts getting it next week. The model is now live on the OpenAI API, so developers can jump in right away. Soon, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users will also get GPT-5 Pro: a version with extended reasoning for sharper, more dependable, and in-depth responses.

Speaking at the launch of GPT-5, Altman stated, India as the company’s second-largest market globally after U.S. He said, “It’s incredibly fast-growing, but what users are doing with AI, what citizens of India are doing with AI, is really quite remarkable.”
Altman added that OpenAI is working closely with local partners to adapt its products for the specific needs of Indian users. He also revealed that he’ll be visiting India in September to deepen these collaborations and explore new opportunities on the ground.
Back in June, OpenAI teamed up with the Indian government’s IndiaAI mission to roll out “OpenAI Academy India,” marking the company’s first overseas launch of its AI education platform. The program aims to make AI skills training more accessible across the country, reaching everyone from students and developers to teachers, civil servants, nonprofit leaders, and small business owners. It supports the IndiaAI Mission’s “FutureSkills” pillar, building on India’s strong developer base, growing digital infrastructure, and thriving startup scene.
On the other hand, Tesla CEO Elon Musk issued a warning to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, stating, that OpenAI is “going to eat Microsoft alive” in response to the launch of the company’s GPT-5 when Nadella posted about the GPT-5 launch on X.
Musk further claimed that Grok 4 is better than the recently launched OpenAI model. He described it as “most capable model yet,” highlighting that it delivers “powerful new advances in reasoning, coding, and chat, all trained on Azure.”
“People have been trying for 50 years and that’s the fun of it! Each day you learn something new, and innovate, partner, and compete. Excited for Grok 4 on Azure and looking forward to Grok 5,” saying this, Microsoft CEO had hit back at Musk promptly.
Musk went on further, posted, “Bottom line, though: Grok 4 Heavy was smarter 2 weeks ago than GPT-5 is now and G4H is already a lot better. Let that sink in.” He also revealed that, Grok 5 will be launched “before the end of this year.”
This social media clash between tech visionaries has caught the attention of their users worldwide. In the upcoming days, the battle between the AI models are going to take a very different shape, quite aggressive enough.
