Meta has announced the launch of its new AI-powered feature, “Your Algorithm,” designed to give Facebook users greater control over the platform’s recommendation system. The feature was first introduced on Instagram.
The feature allows Facebook users to influence the content they see in Feed and Reels by describing their preferences in natural language. Instead of relying solely on automated recommendations, users can tell the platform directly which topics and types of content they want to see more or less of.
“You can now fine-tune your experience and interact directly with the algorithms that rank and recommend what you see on Facebook, meaning you’ll see recommendations that are more relevant, more nuanced, and more you. We’ve updated the three-dot menu on every post to make it easier to access these new customization tools,” Meta said in a blog post.

Meta said the platform may ask follow-up questions to better understand what users like or dislike, allowing them to provide more detailed feedback. Users can specify what they want to see more or less of, helping Facebook refine its recommendations based on their responses.
The company said large language models (LLMs) are helping it “take a giant leap forward” in delivering content users care about.
“LLMs can incorporate the interests, context, and intent behind natural language, unlocking an algorithm you can actually talk to. Tell it what you want more or less, and your recommendations respond in real time, adapting within the same session to reflect what matters to you right now,” the company said.

According to TechCrunch, the introduction of “Your Algorithm” marks a shift away from traditional recommendation systems that have shaped social media experiences for years. The feature brings Facebook closer to streaming services that let users personalize recommendations based on their interests and preferences.
Meta previously introduced “Your Algorithm” on Instagram in June, expanding customization options across Feed and Explore after first launching the feature for Reels in December 2025.
The announcement follows the recent launch of Meta’s Muse, an AI agent that can perform tasks on users’ behalf, including sending emails, booking travel, filling out forms and making purchases.
The company also announced an expansion of its subscription business with the launch of Meta One, a paid service designed to give users access to enhanced AI capabilities and additional features across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
