Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) head honcho just made a bold statement regarding the future of video games and AI.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said that while “the video game business will probably be on the leading, if not bleeding, edge of using AI,” the entire concept is an “oxymoron.”
Zelnick believes that safeguards are already in place to protect their valuable IP, like the phenomenal game franchise they own, Grand Theft Auto, which is a big money maker for Take-Two. However, he did not reveal what these safeguards are.
Taking into account the lawsuits and litigation that AI companies like OpenAI and Google are now facing, it doesn’t seem like Zelnick has any proof to back his words.
As reported by GamesIndusty.biz on Feb. 7 during a recent investor call, Zelnick was asked about his stance on AI: “Machine learning, machines don’t learn… [These] are convenient ways to explain what looks like magic to human beings. The bottom line is that these are digital tools and we’ve used digital tools forever. I do not doubt that what is considered AI today will help make our business more efficient and help us do better work, but it won’t reduce employment.”
Take-Two Interactive’s latest offering GTA 6 is still on track to be released in 2025, according to the company’s earnings call. Grand Theft Auto is one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world and one of the most valuable IPs as well.

Rumours have been circulating among communities and fans that say that GTA 6 could be priced at $100 for the standard edition which would be controversial if true.
Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is an open-world action-adventure video game series where players engage in various criminal activities, including car theft, heists, and gang wars, set in fictional cities inspired by real-life locations. The game is known for its freedom of exploration, immersive storytelling, and controversial content, often pushing the boundaries of violence and satire in modern society.
