Fortuna Health just raised $18 million in Series A funding from Andreessen Horowitz. Their mission is to make it easier for people to navigate Medicaid, the same way “TurboTax” makes filing taxes easier. It’s about bringing clarity and simplicity to one of the most complicated parts of healthcare in the U.S.
This new round of funding is going to help Fortuna move even faster toward their vision. This round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, who’ve backed Fortuna from the start, along with support from Y Combinator and leaders from companies like Abridge, DoorDash, Hex, One Medical, Oscar Health, Scale, and Vanta. “Fortuna is building the consumer-friendly co-pilot to make Medicaid work—and definitionally helping the most vulnerable and underserved navigate their healthcare benefits. We’re so proud to continue backing Fortuna as they build the trusted clearinghouse for Medicaid administration,” said Julie Yoo, general partner at a16z Bio + Health.
Partners like MVP Health Care, Highmark Wholecare, and Cedar have also been instrumental in shaping how Fortuna shows up and makes a real difference on the ground.

The new funding will help Fortuna push further into AI-driven workflows, expand into more states, and strengthen their infrastructure to keep up with growing demand from health systems, care plans, and government partners.
With big policy shifts on the front due to the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” Fortuna is stepping up its efforts to build smarter, more flexible systems. It’s not just about upgrading the tech now it’s about making things easier for both the people navigating Medicaid and the people working behind the scenes to keep it all running.
“Fortuna is the only consumer-first platform for navigating Medicaid end-to-end from eligibility and enrollment to renewing coverage,” the startup claimed on their LinkedIn, sharing how a few years back they started off their journey with one vision that is growing into life now.
About two and a half years ago, Fortuna set out to make Medicaid easier to access and understand for everyday people. But once they got started, it became clear just how complicated the system really is. Every state and territory have its own rules, old systems, and confusing processes, some still rely on things like fax machines and physical mail.

Now, they have built a tool that cuts down on errors, removes duplicate enrollments, and brings everything into one place, no matter how it’s submitted. “We simplified and personalized support for the moments that matter — like renewing with a newborn”, said Nikita Singareddy, CEO, Fortuna Health.
According to the startup, Fortuna’s smart, multilingual platform is designed to meet people where they are. It connects with trusted data sources to speed up verification and also pairs users with live navigators who guide them through the process step by step with Fortuna reporting a 15% reduction in churn.
As Medicaid systems face growing pressure and real change, Fortuna is leaning in, working closely with public agencies and bringing real support where it’s needed most. And with fresh funding, a growing team, and a clear mission, they’re just getting started. The company is also actively hiring across engineering, operations, and growth, especially at their New York HQ.
