The India Philanthropy Alliance (IPA) has announced that registration is now open for the 4th annual India Giving Day, scheduled for March 13, 2026. The campaign, which carries the theme #PowerOfUs, will emphasize the collective strength of the Indian American community in advancing India’s progress on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Launched in 2023, India Giving Day has grown rapidly in scale and impact, making it one of the most successful diaspora-driven giving days in the U.S. Unlike traditional community-based campaigns, this initiative is nationwide and dedicated to supporting nonprofits working exclusively in India.
“We are excited to take India Giving Day to the next level this year,” said Alex Counts, Executive Director of the IPA. “Philanthropy from Indian Americans has grown significantly in recent years, and India Giving Day has helped fuel that growth. Now, we must accelerate that momentum to support the best nonprofits in India—and arguably in the world.”

The campaign’s success has been striking: from 1,031 donors contributing $1.3 million in 2023 to nearly 2,700 donors raising $8.8 million in 2025. Organizers credit this growth not only to vetted nonprofit partners but also to grassroots fundraising efforts, with volunteers hosting events, leveraging social media, and rallying their networks.
This year’s campaign will again feature dozens of organizations across diverse fields such as education, health care, women and children’s programs, elderly care, environmental sustainability, and livelihood development.
“One of the greatest benefits of India Giving Day is the trusted platform it provides,” said Deepak Raj, Chairman of the IPA and National Co-Chair of India Giving Day. “Supporters can be confident their donations are making a difference through carefully vetted organizations.”
Sejal Desai, Executive Director of Akanksha Education Fund and Co-Chair of the India Giving Day Steering Committee, highlighted the spirit of collaboration: “Some participating organizations are co-hosting events, giving donors the chance to explore multiple causes and find those that resonate with their priorities.”
Youth involvement is also growing. “Last year, hundreds of youth and young professionals took part in our campaign, with support from the Youth Leadership Council,” said Manisha Bharti, CEO of Pratham USA. “We expect even greater participation this year. The best is yet to come.”
Organizers are calling on every Indian American household to contribute at least $100 during the campaign window, which opens March 1 and culminates on India Giving Day, March 13. Broad participation at this level, they say, could effectively double the budgets of partner organizations working on the ground in India.
The 2026 campaign is supported by sponsors including the MacArthur Foundation, Jain Family Foundation, Avestar Capital, Sehgal Foundation, Wadhwani Impact Trust, Ujala Foundation, and the Raj Family Foundation.
Nonprofits interested in participating must apply by October 31, 2025.
