Kavi Media, a U.S.-based startup focused on Telugu-language audio entertainment, announced plans to raise $150,000 pre-seed funding round as it looks to expand its library of podcasts, audiobooks and original audio programming for Telugu-speaking audiences in the United States.
The company said $53,000 has already been committed toward the funding round, which is being structured as a Y Combinator SAFE agreement. Founded by CEO Srihith Pallamreddy, Kavi aims to build a dedicated platform for premium Telugu audio content at a time when regional language entertainment consumption by Indians around the world continues to grow rapidly.

The startup was created after Pallamreddy identified a gap in the regional audio market, where Telugu creators and listeners were spread across multiple platforms without a centralized destination focused specifically on Telugu storytelling.
“As regional entertainment platforms have proven, audiences want culturally relevant content built for their dialects,” said Pallamreddy. “We’ve seen the success of Aha in Telugu video entertainment, and we believe regional audio is the next major opportunity — and it’s still early.”
India’s regional language entertainment sector has attracted increasing investment in recent years, particularly in video streaming and digital content platforms. However, regional language audio platforms remain relatively underdeveloped and often inaccessible by Indian diaspora, creating opportunities for companies targeting vernacular audiences.
Kavi said its platform will feature a growing collection of premium podcasts, audiobooks and serialized audio stories tailored for Telugu speaking users worldwide, especially in the U.S. The company said it plans to combine creator partnerships, storytelling and technology to become a central hub for Telugu audio entertainment.
According to the company, funds from the pre-seed round will be used to expand original Telugu audio content, acquire creators and partnerships, develop the platform’s technology infrastructure and support marketing and user growth initiatives. The startup also plans to invest in monetization tools and revenue expansion as it prepares for launch.

Kavi said its broader mission is to make Telugu stories and conversations more accessible through modern digital audio formats while helping creators build sustainable audiences.
The company joins a growing number of startups targeting India’s regional content economy, where demand for entertainment in native languages continue to rise alongside smartphone and streaming adoption.
