The United States and Iran have agreed terms to end the war and open the Strait of Hormuz, and the leaders from around the world have welcomed the announcement.
President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, saying “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete, I hereby fully authorize the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockage,” he added.
Iran’s deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi said a broader deal that would cover sanctions relief for Iran would be worked out during a 60-day ceasefire. He also confirmed that the Memorandum of Understanding is finalized and will be officially signed on June 19 in Switzerland.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar expressed their “appreciation for the determination of both the American and Iranian sides and their commitment to moving forward in resolving differences through negotiations and peaceful means,” through a post on X.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X saying “I welcome the understanding reached between the United States and Iran on ending the conflict in West Asia, which has caused serious economic disruption across the world and led to loss of life in many countries.”
“India hopes that the implementation of this understanding will help restore peace and stability in the region and ensure the freedom of navigation and commerce,” Modi added.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif via a post on X said that he “would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict.” He also added that “we would also extend our sincere appreciation to our brothers in this mediation effort, the great leadership of State of Qatar, for their support in reaching this agreement.”
The United Arab Emirates emphasized the need to “prioritize dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law in a manner that enhances security and stability in the region.” Kuwait has shown a “warm welcome” for the peace deal reached between the U.S. and Iran.
Israel Katz, the Defense Minister of Israel said his country will not be giving up on the land it occupies in Lebanon. He said “Prime Minister Netanyahu made this clear to US President Trump and other senior American officials, and I also clarified it yesterday to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.”
Lin Jiang, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China, posted saying “China welcomes the memorandum of understanding to be signed between the U.S. and Iran and commends Pakistan for the mediation effort.”

“China hopes the Strait of Hormuz will become safe again for free passage, which serves the common interests of regional countries and the wider world,” he added.
The President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan posted on X saying, “I view the agreement reached between the United States and Iran as an important development for establishing peace and tranquillity in our region, and I welcome it with satisfaction.”
António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations also posted on X praising the deal as “this represents a critical step towards the peaceful settlement of the conflict.”
Trump posted another post on Truth Social saying that the “ships are starting to move, many loaded up with Oil, out of the Strait of Hormuz. They are going along the Southern ‘Highway,’ which is totally safe, secure, and pristine.”
The agreement marks the most significant diplomatic breakthrough between Washington and Tehran in years, following months of military confrontation that disrupted global shipping routes and raised concerns over energy supplies.
