T Raja Singh Lodh, a BJP MLA from Goshmal, and the party’s whip for Telangana, has said that he is ready to kill and get killed for protecting ‘Gau Mata’ (cow).
His controversial comment came in the wake of a proposed beef festival at Osmania University, Hyderabad, on December 10 by some Left students organisations.
“People are entitled to eat whatever they wish. However, they should not hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. If religious sentiments are being hurt, we have the right to stop this festival,” Lodh told to CNN-IBN.
“We warn them against a Dadri-like incident in Telangana. We can both give our lives and take life for the sake of protecting the cow,” he added.
Lodh said that first of all he is a Hindu and it’s his duty to protect cows. Those who failed to follow the spoken word would be taught a lesson by other means.
Earlier, he along with some BJP, VHP and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti members had submitted a letter to the Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, Rajeev R. Acharya, seeking cancellation of the planned beef festival inside the university campus and action against those who planned to conduct the same.
The letter read, “organizing beef festival in a university college campus is against the tradition of college, which harms the majority Hindu community students, teachers faiths and disturb the teaching environment.â€
Lodh also came down heavily on BJP State Chief Kishan Reddy for supporting consumption of beef.
He said if Kishan Reddy continues to hold the position of state chief, the party cannot be strengthened in the state. He asked Kishan Reddy to openly apologize to Hindu community for his remarks.
